Tony Sly’s Tribute Album! Words From Fat Mike!

Tony was an  amazing songwriter and one of my dearest friends. His death was traumatic. Horrible. I’ve had friends die, but this was different. Tony wasn’t finished.

I’ve been putting together this tribute comp for some time. It’s incredible how many bands have called me wanting to be on it. It’s been my absolute privilege to put this together. What I wanted to show on this record is how amazing Tony’s songs are.You can tell a song is great when it can be done in any style and it’s still great. That’s what this comp is about. All the bands are doing No Use for a Name songs or Tony Sly songs with their own take. It’s a real tribute to his songwriting.

I wanted to make a comp that Tony would be so proud of. These bands were his closest friends and his favorite bands. I thank all of them for stepping up and showing their love and respect to Tony and his family. It’ll come out in a few months and we’re gonna have a fucking crazy party when it does. You’re all invited to do the same.
- Fat Mike

Some of the bands:
Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Dropkick Murphys, Rise Against, NOFX, Frank Turner, Pennywise, Gaslight Anthem, Bouncing Souls. And about 20 more…

+ByronG

Mgmt has finally started to release new material….well at least they have started to play new material live. Which is about the same thing. So the song they previewed live for their, which I’m guessing is for their newest album, was Mystery Disease. Check it out below.

Electric Mondays!

As the ravers used to say: “Monday is the start of a new hope. A hope for a bigger and better rave to come along and save us from everyday life. To save us from normality, save us from our trouble, at least for awhile.” No, thats not what they really used to say. I was just trying to be philosophical, shut up. Although, another Monday, in my eyes, does mean another day which I present to you some great electro songs I’ve found through out the week. Since I’m nice ajnd like to share, I’m going to share them with you! Hope you like em as much as I did. Then maybe you’ll have something new to blast this weekend instead of that same ol’ bullshit they feed you through the airwaves. Except for KCRW of course, they always present something new to you guys as well. You guys just have noticed. ok! Let’s continue.

(Watch This!) Wampire - Trains [45 Mellow Points]

+B yronG

A funny name for a nice little indie band. Wampires are a small indie psych-pop band from Portland. They’re just about to drop their debut album, it’s Curiosity, out very soon, like May 15th soon. This song, Trains, is very mellow and dream like, almost as if the guitars were stars and they can’t stop twinkling. Check it out live below.

Indie Sundays!

Let me introduce you guys to Valib. Valib is the best thing ever to be invented. Bike rentals at any time, any where, at an affordable price. These bikes are awesome, their tires are always full, the bike comes with a light, a basket and fun. The first 30mins are free, which means you can ride around for 30 mins put it back, wait a couple minutes and get back on for another free 30 mins. How fucking great right? Absolutely! And do you guys notice something? The bikes aren’t fucked up with stolen tired, or tagged up fenders, even though there’s plenty of vandals in the great city of Paris. This system would not work in Los Angeles. Within the first week I bet these bikes would be tagged up and filthy. Makes me sad.

Let me cheer myself up with some great Indie music. Music that I can imagine myself listening to while riding these bikes through and around Paris.Let me start off with a video from the Band, How To Destroy Angels with their lovely song titled, Ice Age.

(Listen Up!) Snoop Lion - No Regets Ft. TI & Amber Coffman

+ByronG

To become a lion you first must become a dogg. Snoop’s “reincarnation” has me thinking about animorphs. Just imagine Snoop on an Animorph’s cover transforming into a Lion with a reggae beanie. Ha! It’s pretty funny to me. I’m not too pumped about the change but it’s happening. This new song he has released is not the best, the only great thing about it is Amber Coffman’s contribution the this song; how can you not love her voice. Check it out below.
